Our prestigious Payments-as-a-Service client are seeking a Software Engineer (C++) to join their outstanding Backend Engineering Team in Munich. Due to their unique market positioning in the ever growing alternative infrastructure payments space, they are set for high growth and innovation in the coming years.

As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for full software development life-cycle activities using C++ for our client’s core platform systems. You will work in a modern DevOps environment with CI/CD pipelines and use tools such as Docker, Kubernetes and AWS for both development and production environments. Working hand-in-hand with other Core Engineering and various DevOps teams, you will strive to make their systems as performant, reliable and as scalable as possible.

Responsibilities

• Address complex architectural problems with simple, intuitive design
• Test and improve performance, scalability and reliability of services
• Take ownership of all phases of the software development lifecycle (planning, design, implementation, deployment, monitoring and support)
• Apply Clean Code techniques and mentor your teammates through in-depth code reviews
• Collaborate effectively within our cross-functional teams
• Recognise and propose solutions for scaling weaknesses, performance bottlenecks and security risks
• Apply and utilise state-of-the-art CI/CD techniques

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Maths, Physics or similar related field from a top-tier university
• Senior level software development experience
• Strong C++ programming skills
• Practical understanding of data structures, algorithms, and design patterns
• Experience developing and running services in the cloud
• Familiarity with FreeBSD and IPC frameworks like ZeroC Ice, gRPC are a plus
• Excellent English language skills, both verbal and written
• Sense of ownership and proven track record of working on projects end-to-end
