We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Program Buyer within our Purchasingteam to help support our Automotive business. Our automotive products fall into four primary groups: Seating and Lumbar support, Wireless Charging, Motors and Actuators, and Mechanical Cables. As a Program Buyer you will have the opportunity to contribute within a Program Core Team. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by providing the team with reliable cost information for potential new orders and projects in the development phase. The team you will be working with is collaborative, and values the challenges of todays’ supply chain.
So, what will you be doing as a Program Buyer?
Under the direction of the Category Manager, you will work to execute the purchasing strategy within assigned programs- As a member of the Program Core Team, you will work to achieve all key program deliverables (cost, quality, schedule, service, etc.)
- Responsible for preparing and presenting procurement documentation
- Identify and implement supplier cost reduction initiatives
- Manage the interface between the program team and suppliers and work closely with Category Management to integrate suppliers as early as possible
- Work closely with selected suppliers to develop improvement opportunities (design / cost)
- Manage cost and schedule during product development in close coordination with supplier development
- Provide necessary support, information and updates to the project team
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
Masters or Bachelors degree in a Technical function, or relevant experience- First professional experience in international procurement of technical products / components in the automotive industry
- Good communication skills and excellent negotiation skills
- Ability to work under pressure and with a strong solution orientation in global teams
- Fluency in English is mandatory
- Customer-oriented thinking and acting as well as high adherence to delivery dates
- Understanding of processes according to ISO 9001 / IATF 16949, VDA 6.3
- Broad knowledge of manufacturing processes and experience in interpreting and analyzing a CBD
- Willingness to travel internationally and intercultural understanding
- Good knowledge of MS Office tools
