What we expect: 
An excellent PhD degree in philosophy, ideally in practical

philosophy or with a focus on philosophical issues of AI;
 interdisciplinary research experience is desirable, specif-

ically regarding computer science, political science, or
law;

 excellent command of the English language;
 international experience, as evidenced by studies

abroad, research stays, or prior employment in an in-
ternational research environment, would be an asset;

 good command of German is desirable but not re-
quired.

Your responsibilities:

The Faculty of Humanities and Theology comprises the De-
partments of Catholic Theology and Protestant Theology as
well as a joint Department of Philosophy and Political Sci-
ence. There is an interdisciplinary focus on teaching and re-
search in the field of “Religion and Politics” against a strong
philosophical background.

The Lamarr Institute for Machine Learning and Artificial Intel-
ligence invites applications for one postdoctoral position in
the project “Explainability, Data Sovereignty, and Trust”. The
project will investigate what explanainability and transpar-
ency of artificial intelligent (AI) systems can contribute to an
individual’s data sovereignty and privacy. This is a fixed-term
2-year position, which will be located at the Department of
Humanities and Theology and the Department of Computer
Science. The Employment can start at the earliest possible
date. According to the public tariff regulations, the salary is
based on the tariff group E13 TV-L with 100% of the regular
work time, the in-principle possibility of part-time employ-
ment is, however, given.
