Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB) is one of the leading research universities in the field of material science in Germany. The RUB draws its strengths from the wide range of scientific and engineering disciplines located at a single coherent campus and thus providing excellent infrastructure for interdisciplinary research projects. This highly dynamic setting provides a leverage effect enabling students and researchers to work across traditional boundaries of academic subjects and faculties.
From the next possible date until 31 December 2023, we offer a postdoctoral research position (m/w/d) in a subproject of the collaborative research center “SFB TR103 From atoms to turbine blades – a scientific basis for a new generation of single crystal superalloys”. The subproject is situated at theInterdisciplinary Centre for Advanced Materials Simulation (ICAMS) in the group of Prof. Stricker (Materials Informatics and Data Sciences) andaims to improve the understanding of the interactions of dislocations with dynamic ɣ/ɣ’ interfaces.
If the position is funded by third-party funds the employee has no teaching obligation.
To study the dynamic interaction of dislocations with interfaces, the candidate (m/f/d) will use Discrete Dislocation Dynamics coupled to a phase-field code. Simulation outcomes will be assessed in close collaboration with experimental groups.
Apart from professional skills, fluent English, both written and oral, is strictly required.
Please sendyour complete and informativeapplication documents (informative cover letter, 1-page motivational letter, CV with certificates, 3 publications) as one pdf document by e-mail to Jun.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Markus Stricker: markus.stricker@rub.de.
