Master Thesis within Development of Flight Control Algorithms for the Lateral Motion of the ADMIRE model (d/f/m)

The department offers an opportunity for a master thesis on design of control laws of a generic high-performance aircraft. The goal of the overall project is to have a capable flight control model for an agile aircraft, which can be used for future research and technology developments. While the pitch control laws are already being designed, the scope of this master thesis is the lateral-directional control. The description of the aircraft, i.e. the aerodynamic and flight- dynamics model already exist in a Matlab-Simulink environment and it is based on a publicly available research model with a flight envelope up to low supersonic Mach numbers.

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Familiarization with the existing aircraft model and the simulation environment.
  • Analysis of the expected handling qualities for the aircraft.
  • Design of the lateral-directional control laws.
  • Demonstration of the flight control laws in simulation.
  • Master thesis documentation.

Desired Skills And Qualifications

  • Enrolled student in Aerospace Engineering, Control System Engineering,
  • or similar field of study.
  • Knowledge on flight dynamics and control law design.
  • MATLAB/Simulink: Experienced.
  • FORTRAN or C/C++: Basic knowledge.
  • LINUX: Basic knowledge.
