This is an exciting time to be working as a strategic secretariat officer for the Metropolitan Police Service. In addition to large-scale transformation, there’s the unique and ever-evolving challenge of policing London. This means that as a strategic secretariat officer delivering robust corporate governance, there are more opportunities for you to get involved with making London the safest global city in a time of unprecedented change within the UK’s largest Police Service.

The strategic secretariat is responsible for the organisation and smooth running of all corporate board meetings, which cover matters relating to the governance of the Metropolitan Police including performance, investment and workforce diversity.

The ideal candidate will be motivated, organised and have excellent written skills.

The role is busy and requires someone with energy and enthusiasm to manage a high volume of work to tight deadlines. You will take ownership for at least two corporate board meetings, building a trusting relationship with the senior police officer who chairs each meeting.

Core Duties Include
  • Taking clear, accurate and succinct minutes for the meetings you run
  • Planning agenda items
  • Commissioning, collecting, quality assuring and circulating meeting papers
  • Tracking actions
  • You will need to be a team player, have an eye for detail, and take a flexible and positive approach to help meet wider team objectives.
