Purpose

The Senior Manager, Transportation Control & Billing is a key in-house, leadership role for an organized, passionate, and analytical leader who understands the challenges and the opportunities of EU wide supply chain and transportation network. S/he needs to be capable of end-to-end owning, collecting, and analysing a complex set of business data; convert them into relevant decks and decision support materials; and present to senior management.
The successful candidate will be expected to have extensive team leadership experience (both operational teams as well as decision support teams), financial understanding of transportation services and surcharges, lead the regional transportation data analytics and performance management teams to gauge performance, support and drive decisions.

Key Responsibilities:
The leadership role leads 2 pillars of transportation:
a) Control / Data Analytics Teams
  • Lead the Transportation Control / Data Analytics teams. Own the Transportation Data landscape and be the main POC for all internal and external partners in terms of data and related quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Develop, manage, update, and present regional transportation decks and scorecards.
  • Drive data-driven decision making in whole EU network deliveries
  • Analyse and pinpoint top improvement areas within Supply Chain
  • Own the operational and financial performance reporting of the department, including the relevant Master Data maintenance
  • Carry out ad hoc analysis to drive agile decision making
  • Support ongoing and designed projects with data, by building and justifying business cases
b) Billing / Invoice Control Teams.
  • Leads the Invoice Control team, which makes sure that adidas is charged and does payments correctly and rightfully within the contractual terms and rates
  • Drives the month end accrual process
  • Has a big input for organizational budgeting in terms of OPEX forecasting, and transportation spend.
  • Owns the financial (rate cards and surcharges) and operational (lead times and cut off) master data ownership of transportation parameters.
  • Oversees and safeguards the accuracy of TMS (transportation management system) and SAP master data and the data quality of our reporting tools.
  • Analyzes financial data, suggests cost optimization tactics, plans and strategies.

  • Works with senior management to prioritize business and information needs
  • Proactively manages stakeholders, identify needs and manage communication
  • Stakeholders can relate (but not limited) to the following core functions:
  • EU Transportation team as closest internal customers of the analysis required
  • EMEA Supply Chain Management (all functions)
  • Particularly Performance Management and Supply Chain Control Tower Teams
  • EMEA Market (all functions)
  • Supply Chain Finance
  • External partners (carriers, solution providers and consultants)
  • Global Operations (Global Transportation, Procurement. Digital, Strategy and IT)
  • GBS (Global Business Services Team)
  • HR Business Partner
  • o Corporate functions (e.g., legal, finance & performance management)

Hard skills:
  • Advanced MS Office skills, especially MS Excel and MS PowerPoint
  • Technical expertise regarding data models, data mining, segmentation and presentation techniques.
  • Number savvy with strong analytical skills.
  • Is able to lead departmental budgeting – considering transportation is a huge (close to 300 M) spend item for the organization
  • Adept at queries, MS Excel based analysis, report writing and presenting the findings
  • Understanding of a complex transportation / supply chain network
  • Working experience with a Transportation Management and Optimization system is a plus
  • Dives deep with proven data analytics skills, and willing to ‘get his/her hands dirty’
  • Frugal. Does not compensate speed or quality over each other.
  • Has experience in building and evaluating Business Cases with scenario planning
  • Financial literacy & Budget

Requisite Education and Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’s degree from relevant departments of universities required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated team management experience, data analytics skills and financial background.
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant work experience in an advanced analytics / supply chain finance environment
