Safety Engineer (m/f/d) for our location in Braunschweig, Germany .

Purpose of the job

As a Safety Engineer, you are responsible for providing assurance that the signalling system meets its safety requirements. You will plan and perform hazard analysis, review design and test documentation, and provide an independent opinion on the suitability of the signalling system to satisfy its safety requirements. You will work with project team to ensure compliance with internal processes and safety standards. This position requires working on the project from the start-up, to provide the project team with expert guidance to a successful safety assessment, dealing with the complete lifecycle phase of a product development.

Key responsibilities:
Safety Analysis: Identify system/ subsystem hazards by executing hazard identification techniques like: FMECA, FTA, HAZOP, Brainstorming, DILO and recording them in appropriate project documents as PHA, SHA, SSHA, IHA. Establish and maintain the project hazard log.

Reporting: Prepare system safety case to present the results of the safety and validation activities. Interface with Safety Assessor and coordinate the activities required to achieve a successful safety assessment. Provide agreement/disagreement for the release of subsystem/ system to their intended application environment.

Safety Reviews: Work with project team members to perform safety analysis; ensure all hazards are identified and recorded in the project hazard log and sufficient safety requirements are identified to mitigate the hazards, any non-conformities are addressed, and all hazards closed out in an appropriate manner through elimination or risks control/transfer measures. Participate in the review of requirements, requirements traceability, test plans and procedures, verification reports, test results, software and/or hardware changes, and record its deviations in the review record and provide feedback to the project team members.

Planning: Develop system safety plans and prepare all activities required to provide assurance that the signalling subsystems, and its integrated systems, satisfy their safety. requirements, in accordance with the company procedures and applicable safety standards.

Safety Audits: Perform safety audits, generate audit reports and follow-up audit findings.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher education in engineering or computer science.

Proven experience in a Safety Engineer position or similar role.

Specialized or cross-functional knowledge / relevant experience required by the position/role.

Railway knowledge/ experience is preferred.

Knowledge and experience with:
Functional Safety Standards: EN50126, EN50128, EN50129, EN61508, ISO 26262, IEC 61513, IEC 61511, IEC 61513.

Hazard Identification techniques: HAZOP, FMECA, FTA, DILO.

Software Architecture, Development, Tests, Requirements Engineering.

Fluent in English and German.
