SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Quality & Compliance manager in Berlin headquarters, the Compliance and Sustainment Engineer will be responsible for ensuring product compliance and managing product life cycle through WOW Tech’s PLM system.

The position requires engaging Product Development, production, QA and marketing groups on all aspects of regulations that may affect either product development or product marketing. Additionally, the position requires keeping abreast of regulatory and compliance standards of markets served to ensure WOW Tech Group products maintain their legal compliance status throughout their lifecycle. The sustainment responsibilities of this position involve technical ownership of products after they enter production. This includes ownership of WOW Tech’s PLM system and subsequent change management process. It also includes supporting products in production for cost reduction and phase in phase actions.

Tasks

  • Ensures the products meet all electrical, mechanical, radio emission and safety standards required by the product specification and the markets including country specific requirements
  • Schedules and oversees certification testing of products
  • Keeps abreast of regulatory and safety standards of regional requirements and educates internal stakeholders of implications of changing regulations
  • Organize and maintain documentation for compliance, to include: certifications, test reports and other technical documentation.
  • Manage / approve product labelling, particularly Instructions for Use, package labels, sales and marketing literature / presentations, web-based marketing claims, including implementing/revising written procedures.
  • Ensures product labelling and documentation adheres to associated compliance
  • At the preliminary design review stage, works with the Product Development department to optimize the design for fastest and lowest compliance cost.
  • Update and maintain certification information about components and products in PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) System
  • Manage the Arena PLM systems for document control and provide company-wide training to ensure that it is appropriately maintained, supported and effectively used.
Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering
  • 3+ years experience in product life cycle management & compliance
  • Expertise in various compliance and regulatory standards for wireless consumer products including FCC, IC, RED, CE declaration and EU standards.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and directives for markets in North America and Europe. Other markets – advantage.
  • Experience dealing with various NRTLs, such as BV, TÜV, SGS and Intertek.
  • Experience with using and/or configuring PLM systems. Experience with Arena would be an asset
  • Experience working in consumer product development
  • Excellent oral and written English communications skills. German language – advantage.
