ERM is seeking a Principal Consultant/Teamleaderwith extensive professional experience and expertise in the management and execution of environmental and social impact assessment projects to join ourCapital Projects Support (CPS)team in Germany.

Role Profile

We are looking for someone who will help us to… Build, grow, and manage a high-performance team, serving as a line manager and mentor for younger consultants. Identify emerging talent and work with them to reach their full potential. Work in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment to build ERM’s global business. Drive innovation within the practice to stay ahead of client needs and to differentiate ERM in the market. Provide exemplary safety leadership across all activities.

Main Responsibilities
  • Work closely with our clients (banks, project developers, international lenders and/or corporate clients) to build effective working relationships; support the client throughout the project financing lifecycle
  • Lead teams in conduct of independent due diligence, gap analysis and benchmarking, compiling management system elements and environmental and social impact assessment (ESIA) studies to international environmental and social standards; perform senior level project delivery activities such as report writing, data collection and survey field work, data and literature review, and development of recommendations for clients
  • Manage and co-ordinate complex projects; ensure that the project team has the right skill mix to meet the promised deliverables
  • Oversee multiple projects within client’s scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables
  • Oversee the preparation of proposals, including development of technical scopes and cost estimates, and participate in business development with existing clients and identified leads. Maintain client relationships to support repeat business
  • Support the Partner-in-Charge of projects and proposals by conducting QA/QC of documents prior to finalisation
  • Build effecting working relationship internally and collaborate with other ERM consultants from different technical communities
  • Mentor and provide training to junior consulting staff to develop their skill sets in the impact assessment/project financing subject areas

The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a truly client-focused, international and collaborative environment. He/she will have an excellent track record of managing consultant teams and providing top-notch services to international clients on a variety of E&S topics, with a solid understanding of the key elements of project financing processes. He/she will have the ability to think broadly whilst paying attention to details. He/she will have passion for people development, proactively guiding and developing the intrinsic competencies of each of the team members from junior consultant to technical director. He/she will be a strong champion of safe working environment for staff, sub-contractors and clients.

The Ideal Candidate Will Also Demonstrate
  • Solid experience in building trust-based client relationships and prior experience working with project developers, lenders, and corporates
  • Extensive international ESIA/project experience in Africa, Asia or South America
  • Excellent project management skills in the above described technical areas
  • Strong communication, client relationship, people leadership, the ability to work mainly in English, whilst German skills helpful – plus other languages.
  • Ability to do circa 20% travel
