We seek:

The Intelligent Systems Group in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Siegen seeks to hire one postdoctoral researcher or Ph.D. student starting October 15th, or as soon as possible thereafter under the following conditions:

  • Working Time: 100% (39.83 hrs/week)
  • Salary Group: 13 TV-L
  • Contract Duration: Until 14.10.2024 (possibly with extension)

Your tasks:

  • Support and conduct research in the field of automated machine learning (AutoML) and/or recommender systems
  • Support teaching (4 contact hours per week), and the computer science courses at the department
  • Publish research articles
  • Supervise students
  • (Support) the acquisition of research funding
  • Administration Tasks
  • Independent scientific qualification (PhD or, in the case of a postdoctoral researcher, a Habilitation)

Your profile:

  • A qualifying university degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s in computer science, or comparable) for the Ph.D. position; or a Ph.D. in computer science, or comparable, for the postdoctoral position.
  • Good knowledge in machine learning or recommender systems
  • Good programming skills (preferably Python) and in software libraries like TensorFlow, Keras, or scikit-learn
  • Preferably knowledge in AutoML, algorithm selection, industry experience and project work
  • Interest in interdisciplinary work
  • Very good English language skills (German is not required)
