Summary

Huntington Ingalls Industries – Defense and Federal Services (HII-DFS) is seeking a Systems Integration Engineer to support our customer, US Air Forces in Europe (USAFE). The Systems Integration Engineer will integrate weapon systems, sensors, and Command & Control (C2) elements to support base air defense. Qualified applicants will have a background in air defense, computer systems engineering, or systems engineering and technical expertise as it relates to the identification and tracking of areal or ground targets.

What You Will Do

  • Design, operate, and maintain firewalls, switches, and servers that integrate applications and services for Counter Unmanned Aerial Systems (CUAS)
  • Identify and implement DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGS) for appropriate security, network, and servers to support air defense of USAF bases throughout Europe.
  • Design, operate, and maintain IT systems that integrate applications and services for Counter Unmanned Aerial Systems (CUAS) tools utilized in base air defense.
  • Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability with security, backup, and redundancy strategies.
  • Monitor and test UAS threat system performance to identify possible solutions and work with developers to implement solutions.
  • Continuously increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on tasks related to air defense.
  • Participate in the design of information and operational support systems.
  • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel to provide 2nd and 3rd level support.

What We Are Looking For

  • 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field or 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field.
  • Thorough knowledge of network design and maintenance, fault isolation, performance monitoring, configuration management standards, principles, and techniques.
  • Knowledge of Multi-site VPN technologies such as DMVPN (Cisco), ADVPN (Juniper), and/or site-to-site VPNs.
  • Advanced knowledge of Red Hat Linux (RHEL), versions 6.x and newer.
  • Must have domain knowledge sufficient to assess and document the performance of modern air defense systems.
  • Demonstrated communication skills; both written and oral concerning technical material and explaining these aspects to non-technical customers.
  • Flexible with proven ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Must have an active TS clearance with SCI eligibility based on a Single Source Background Investigation (SSBI)

Preferred: Bonus Points For...

  • Working knowledge or experience of Nutanix servers.
  • Working knowledge of Palo Alto firewalls such as the PA-3220
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent knowledge
  • 10 years of recent specialized experience in counter-UAS (C-UAS), Counter-Small UAS (C-sUAS), Counter-UAV (C-UAV), Integrated Air Defense System (IADS), Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD), or Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS).
  • Experience in Electronic Warfare as it relates to aircraft systems or base defensive measures.
