The Role
Shell – one of the world’s largest energy companies – is targeting net zero emissions by 2050. Shell’s Finance and Tax teams are playing a major role in this transformation. By partnering closely with the business, Tax is efficiently providing transparency, financial expertise, and challenge. We are looking for a Junior Tax Advisor who wants to strengthen the team and support us in transforming from a hydrocarbon-based energy company into a sustainable zero carbon energy solution provider in future.

We are looking for a motivated Junior Tax Advisor to join our German Tax Team in Hamburg.
Shell´s global Tax organization plays a pivotal role in delivering our strategy to Power Progress. Our tax teams ensure that Shell remains a responsible taxpayer, by submitting accurate tax accounting data and returns and in supporting the business in delivering on priorities and understanding tax risks. What´s the role?
Your key responsibilities will include:
Provide comprehensive tax advice and support for Shell business in Germany on its Energy Transition path
Undertake tax advice, shaping, structuring and support for Shell business/functions operating in the Germany to ensure fiscal compliance, effective risk management and in support of business objectives
Provide Businesses and Functions with appropriate tax advice on international structures, policies, processes and effective controls in supporting tax compliance in consistency with Group standards & policies
Provide support for the delivery of accurate Tax Filing, Reporting and compliance and support Tax audits in Germany & Austria for Direct and Real Estate Taxes
Effectively establish, build and utilize external relationships to respective Fiscal Authorities and municipalities and other external relationships and contacts for the benefit of Shell
Take part in Tax projects and support the wider Group & DACH Tax team as required.
Play an active role in the wider Tax organization and take part in special projects as required.
Work on other matters assigned where value and priorities dictate
What we need from you?
We are keen to hear from people passionate about Tax and keen to develop their expertise in that area. You will bring:
Minimum qualification of a diploma in finance or higher education (Diplom-Finanzwirt) and have already the degree as tax consultant or be prepared to acquire the qualification as a certified tax consultant (Steuerberater)
Deep technical tax knowledge in German Taxation, including domestic statute & case law, international tax treaties and practices, gained from working for a multinational, Tax Administration or a professional firm for at least three years
Understanding of SAP
Ability to engage and communicate with key stakeholders, both internally & externally, at a senior level within Finance, the Business Functions
Effective communicator of complex tax issues; both written and orally,
Strong German language skills and English to a good business standard
Ability to evaluate tax risks, balance risk with Business objectives, and make recommendations that are objective, practical, technically appropriate, and supportive to the Business
Ability to adapt to new or changing circumstances and ambiguous or pressured situations,
Effective team player on tax and cross-functional virtual team.
