Engineering Manager (OLX Core - User Accounts)

We’re looking for Engineering Manager, based in Berlin to build and lead our newly formed pack - User accounts

The domain of Users and Accounts in OLX used to be something distributed across many teams. While we already have teams covering topics like authentication, friction, and safety, this team is being built from the ground up to cover the product experience of OLX users around their account and profile. The expected team setup is 1 engineering manager, 1 product manager, 2 backend engineers, 1 frontend engineer and 2 native app engineers.

Among the expected areas of the product the team is expected to cover:

• Profile data management
• Keeping core account information up-to-date
• Identifying customer journey flows where users should prove their identity once again before proceeding
• Creating a strategy for evolving the user entity and account data in our backend, ensuring our teams can properly build around it and on top of it
• Consolidate account behavior and business logic across markets
• Ensuring business users are able to enter and verify their business details
• Create a solid user experience and evolve the Account Section to help customers manage their OLX account well

• Understanding of different management styles and when to switch between them
• Hands-on experience in architecting, building and scaling cloud-based systems, serving millions of users
• Strong software development experience in one or more general-purpose programming languages, preferably Kotlin or a JVM language

What you will be doing:

• Lead a team of software engineers, contribute to scaling our platform to the next level of modularity & shareability while working on architecture, tools, standards, and practices for the engineering European organization.
• Lead by example, care for your team and establish credibility with the quality of your own and your team’s technical execution.
• Encourage the team to innovate, invent, implement and deploy complex software solutions.
• Onboarding, mentoring, coaching, feedback and career development of the engineering team.
• Ensure that the team is delivering with repeatable quality and predictability.
• Work closely with the product management team to align technology solutions with the product vision.
