Local Unit & Position Description

DNV’s Energy Markets and Strategy team is specialized in the design, analysis, and assessment of energy markets, including strategy, investment analysis, transaction support and regulation. It covers the whole range of services from the conceptual design of energy markets and their regulation to the economic and commercial analysis of this framework and of market, technology, and regulatory developments for different energy sector stakeholders as well as the assessment and valuation of energy infrastructure investments and business models. A particular focus is on the system and market integration of renewable energies, the economics and regulation of renewable gases (hydrogen) and on other technologies facilitating the energy transition such as electricity storage, demand side flexibility and smart grids. DNV’s Energy Markets and Strategy team also utilises a comprehensive suite of state-of-the-art tools and models, including our own European Power Market Model, which allow for combined market and network simulations and power price forecasting, supporting clients with investment decision analysis, asset valuation and risk assessments.

The Energy Markets and Strategy team in Germany works with leading investors, project developers, generators/utilities, network operators, industrials, regulators and policy makers in the D-A-CH countries (Germany, Switzerland and Austria) and around the globe. We work closely with similar teams located in 8 other European countries, the Middle East, Asia and the Americas and combine our deep economic expertise with the strong and broad engineering expertise of DNV in the energy sector.

To further grow our team and enhance our services in the field of renewable energies in the D-A-CH countries, we are looking for a Consultant at the earliest possible date. Bonn is the preferred location.

Key Tasks And Responsibilities

As "Consultant - Renewable Energies", you will:

• Support project work with a focus on renewable energies, including storage and green hydrogen, covering topics such as renewable support schemes and auctions, power purchase agreements, merchant investments, market and system integration, economic and financial valuation, business model definition, strategic and transactional advice (regulatory/commercial due diligence)
• Independent handling of work packages and project tasks for clients in the D-A-CH countries and Europe as part of a project team with the opportunity to quickly take on additional project responsibilities
• Support the acquisition of new projects including preparation of proposals and meetings with customers
• Support the preparation and delivery of reports and take an active role in the presentation of the project results to our customers
• Support the continuous development and expansion of our services in the field of renewable energies in the D-A-CH countries
  
  

Our Requirements

Position Qualifications

• Master’s degree with major in Economics, Business Administration, Finance or Business Engineering with a focus on energy or in Electrical Engineering
• Professional or native speaker of German with excellent English language skills (written and spoken)
• A good understanding of energy markets and their associated regulatory framework
• Knowledge of the economics of renewable energies (PV, wind on- and offshore, storage and green hydrogen) and their market and system integration
• Practical experience gained in consulting, or in relevant positions at an energy sector company, research institute, and/or (inter) governmental agency is highly valued
• Good quantitative and qualitative analytical skills and problem solving capabilities
• Initiative to pursue new business opportunities
• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
• Excellent team-player attitude and resilience required
