Responsibilities:
- Direct product development, research and implementation of innovative technologies using Computer Vision to support Digital Surgery. Products include perioperative software solutions to enable interactions and present of information for surgery.
- Work in cross-functional teams as R&D Project Lead to guide the development of products for Digital Surgery from a technology standpoint, developing new Computer Vision solutions, and managing software product development.
- Supporting collection of expert feedback by guiding R&D teams to build prototypes and coordinate hands-on studies with surgeons and surgical staff to test the prototypes/products and value proposition.
- Advance the vision and state-of-the-art in the field of Digital and Image-Guided Surgery including generating patents and supporting the research community through grant advising, and staying informed of ground-breaking technologies, publications and conferences.
Qualifikationen
Required:
- M.Sc. in Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent degree/experience (including Univ. Dipl-Ing.)
- 10+ years of relevant industry and/or academic work experience related to Computer Vision based tracking, inside-out tracking, multi-camera calibration, sensor fusion (e.g. visual-inertial odometry), SLAM, pose-graph estimation framework, Image-Guided Surgery, or Software as Medical Device (SaMD).
- Experience throughout the full product development lifecycle and familiarity with standards in a regulated industry (including medical, automotive, aviation, or aerospace)
- Demonstrated ability to manage/lead project teams and direct reports or external teams
- Attention to detail and excellent interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
- Strong verbal and written English skills (mother tongue, bilingual, or technical conversation)
- Self-motivated, a flexible team player with the ability to define goals, even in ambiguous or over-constrained environments.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaborate with cross-functional teams to accept challenges and responsibilities
- Ability to travel up to 5%, domestic and international as needed for usability feedback sessions with surgeons and surgical staff.
- Physical Demands: This role requires standing, walking, sitting, keyboarding, lifting or carrying of devices, and gross manipulation or reaching of devices at shoulder level. Devices are up to 8kg (~18lbs).
Preferred:
- Experience leading teams working on medical devices or medical device software for surgical systems, such as image-guided surgery platforms
- Experience working with external teams or conducting usability studies with 3rd party companies and surgical teams
- Experience communicating project needs and status vertically to various levels of management and laterally to internal key stakeholders
- Strong verbal and written English and German skills (mother tongue, bilingual, or technical conversation)
- Track record of relevant scientific publications or patents for Computer Vision based solutions.
- Knowledge in surgical procedure steps and OR setups, medical imaging analysis, and imaging modalities (such as CT, MRI, PET, US)
