About The Role
The APQP Engineer is responsible for the fulfillment of all BMW’s and LEAR’s product and process quality related requirements of the complete seat during development to SOP.
Your work will therefore include, but not be limited to:
- Responsibility for the fulfillment of all BMW’s and LEAR’s product and process quality related requirements of the complete seat during development to SOP
- Cooperation with JIT plant and development departments, assurance of robust design and processes
- Coordination and monitoring of quality related topics of JIT plant and all departments involved in the development process
- Monitoring of open topics with short- and long-term actions, due dates, prototype coordination
- Point of contact for the customer for all quality related questions and claims
- Presentation and reporting to BMW and to LEAR management
- Support and attend launching program customer meetings and customer process reviews/audits.
- Lead for APQP-related Deliverables
- Liaison for the plant for all Advanced Quality Planning activities including internal gate reviews with the customer and the internal program team
- Understand current and planned JIT process knowledge, challenges, and design concerns to drive design solutions for process issues.
- Keep a working knowledge if current customer issues, root causes and Corrective actions to share and review during new design.
- Support on all APQP activities to ensure functional specification requirements are fully met and confirm controls carried into the Control Plan
- Responsible for the confirmation and completion of the manufacturing location’s PPAP documentation and for completing PSW process to the customer for launching programs and product/process changes
- Monitor Run at Rate activity and process run documentation
- Monitors the approval of supplied components
- Review / participate in Design Reviews and manufacturing feasibility activity
- Has the authority and the responsibility to stop any process or product delivery in case of a non-conformance of customer expectations, safety, or environmental risks
- Will be responsible for helping to update core documents in APIS, use of quality deliverables in LPMP or other program launch system and support program Mgrs.
- Support build events and launch activity at the JIT to ensure knowledge is shared with manufacturing and quality team
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a technical field from an accredited institution
- Practical experience in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) tools, tool usage and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
- Competent in problem solving tools such as 8D methodology: Fishbone diagram, 5 Why
- Ability to read and interpret drawings to ensure the understanding of the agreed quality parameters and product specific requirements
- Competent in quality tools, and process/production control methods such as: Control Plans, FMEA, MSA, PPAP, SPC
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Strong interpersonal communication and listening ability
- Open minded, motivated, proactive, self-confident, responsibility taking, Character
- Autonomous and structured ability of working under high pressure
- Fluent in both English and German language
- This position requires frequent travel to Lear’s BMW plant in Duncan (USA)
- Knowledge of BMW customer specific requirements
- Knowledge of seat development and production process
- Prefer APQP training completed
