for the Central Division Central Life Reserving

Munich Re’s Central Life Reserving Global Oversight team is responsible for the reserves held in the Life and Health Reinsurance portfolio. We empower reserving actuaries across the globe to provide actionable analytics on business and reserve developments relevant for decision-making. We expand and improve our capabilities for analysing and understanding risks. We drive the development and implementation of an integrated actuarial analysis and reporting platform, and we constantly safeguard the availability of high-quality data for the reserving processes.
Over the next few years, a key task for the department will be to start the valuation and reporting according to IFRS 17 and IFRS 9 accounting standards. This will involve acting as a multiplier to help developing the necessary knowledge and skills within CLR.

Your job
- Coordinating and advising a team of actuaries focused on working with the local valuation teams in the international organisation
- Acting as key liaison for CLR management and for several local valuation teams in the international organisation. This includes
- Overseeing quality assurance and analysis of their valuation results in all relevant bases, and related management reporting
- Discussing and quality assuring necessary model and assumption changes
- Analysing structured business opportunities (FinRe) with a focus on valuation and risk transfer
- Effectively managing and prioritising resources and effort invested across business units
- Refining and developing the role and tools of Global Oversight regarding quality assurance, analytics and reporting for the LH Re business units, with a particular focus on the upcoming introduction of IFRS 17/IFRS 9
- Leading and performing on site valuation reviews in the international LH Re organisation
- Developing and maintaining the relationships with various interfaces throughout Munich Re: primarily, the international local valuation teams, and also IRM, the group actuarial function, FRR, RIC, RIA, CU and auditors
Your profile
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree with a quantitative or technical background (e.g. in mathematics, physics, statistics, actuarial science, computer science)
- Professional actuarial experience in life or health (re)insurance
- Highly dedicated, motivated and results-driven
- Working collaboratively and effectively in a dynamic international group – being good at managing interfaces and building networks
- Strong conceptual, analytical and communication skills with emphasis on practical application
- Sound knowledge of IFRS 17 for life reinsurance business desirable
- Being able to be precise where needed and pragmatic wherever reasonable
- Very good command of spoken and written English
