Senior Software Engineer

This role is for a new team that sits within the partner pillar of the Just Eat family, and would be part of a new exciting new phase in our development.

You will be working on a new greenfield project that will be responsible for automatic deployments of software to field devices in restaurants and groceries.

Joining us as a Senior Engineer, you will be a key member of the team, working closely with the team to architect and implement solutions, collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to help realize the requirements and steer our roadmap, challenge and offer technical decisions with a pragmatic mindset, and constantly improve both your team and yourself.

In this role, you will also have the opportunity to:

• Learn and contribute to the processes, standards, and design principles used by the web team and wider engineering guilds
• Work with a wide range of colleagues of different skill sets, across the business (and the world)
• Track the progress of projects, manage their timelines, and communicate updates to non-technical stakeholders
• Influence and mentor junior members of the team
• Collaborate with your team to design and develop elegant solutions to complex business problems in an event-driven architecture
• Uphold and champion best practices and high standards for you, your team, and across the engineering community
• Help define the technical direction of your team
• Engage with the technical community, contributing to open source projects, taking part in hackathons, learning through specialist interest groups

Here’s what we’re looking for from our Senior Engineer:

• Extensive experience with React
• Experience with Typescript / JavaScript (ES6)
• Experience writing unit tests in JavaScript using Jest or a similar framework
• Knowledge of Kotlin /Java
• Knowledge of Spring Boot
• Using database technologies e.g. MySql, Cassandra
• Experience working with HTML, CSS, and SASS/LESS or another CSS preprocessor
• Experience with version control, preferably Git
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience with cloud-based architecture patterns
• Creating robust, maintainable code using automated tests in development processes such as TDD or BDD
• Working in a Continuous Development Cycle, using Agile methodologies
