We are now looking for a Senior Public Affairs Managerto strengthen our Essity Global Public Affairs team in Germany.Essity operates globally in many markets and deals with increasing and diverse policy developments and legislative frameworks that have impact on its business. The number of actors that are simultaneously engaged with various agendas has increased and the issues raised by external stakeholders have multiplied. Partnerships are key to Essity’s Public Affairs work. Public Affairs works proactively with and across all Essity’s Global and Business Units by contributing to and adapting their strategies to maintain or gain competitive advantage through public policies whilst contributing to societal progress and policy developments.Sustainability, Health & Hygien and Public Affairs, as part of Essity’s business model, is based on economic, environmental and social value creation. About The RoleReporting to our Vice President Public Affairs at Essity you will be part of the Essity Public Affairs team and community, as well as the Country Management team in Germany working closely with the different business leadership, manufacturing teams and communication.This role will drive the business impact analysis of ongoing and future public policy developments for areas of responsibility in the Country Management Team. Be responsible for developing Essity country positions in line with the overall Essity ambitions, establish and drive external partnerships and stakeholder relations and ensure Essity contributes to public policy shaping securing societal developments and growing our business. You will also support Essity to reach above country objectives by securing support from relevant country representatives e.g., MEPs, decision makers for ISO standards.We’re looking for people who embody our values, aren’t afraid to challenge, innovate, experiment, and move at a fast pace. • Localize and execute Essity Public Affairs (PA) Strategy.
• Define country PA plan incl. objectives and KPIs which are aligned with the local Business Units and Global Supply Chain represented in the Country Management Team and Global & EU PA plans
• Drive implementation and follow up of the local PA plan in line with Essity PA strategies and local business goals
• Anticipate and follow country public policy and regulatory developments relevant to Essity business (existing & emerging)
• Map and establish strong external network and relationships with key stakeholders and position Essity in relevant associations and partnerships
• Own the local trade association engagement plan, both ensuring alignment between Essity’s various trade association and working group engagements and representations, including info sharing.
• Develop Essity main policy messages and targeted advocacy plan and accountabilities in prioritized issues and translate regulations and legislative activities to business opportunities to (by preparing convincing arguments and building advocacy tools)
• With Communications develop and contribute to the issues management process for Essity prioritized corporate issues
• Ensure effective communication with local agencies and partners as well as within the organization
• Participate in relevant PA networks (external and internal) to secure local needs are taken into consideration and contribute to best practice and knowledge sharing/building

Who You Are

• At least 7 to 10 years of experience within relevant field(s), ideally from public roles or and/or within comparable industry.
• Very good knowledge about public policy making and regulations in a market/region/area, as well as network of relevant stakeholders
• Able to interpret the impact how policies are impacting Essity and proven track record to define successful strategies and actions
• Experience representing a company with public policy stakeholder, NGOs and other external stakeholders
• Strong negotiation and influencing skills, able to advocate the company’s position, including defending business decisions, to achieve best results for Essity by handling conflicting interests in the best possible way both in-and externally
• Change management experience
• Strong networking and interpersonal collaboration and communication skills
• International experience and proven ability to achieve results in a matrix organization.
• Turns strategy into actions and delivers results
• Strong decision making and prioritization skills combined with the ability to challenge stakeholders.
• Business curiosity and comprehensive understanding of Essity strategies and market and of how the whole value chain works
• University degree within the areas political science, law, economy, science.
• Ability to travel
• Fluent in English and German
