仕事内容
The Max Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry (MPI-BGC) in Jena is dedicated to interdisciplinary fundamental research in the field of Earth system sciences with a focus on climate and ecosystems. The internationally renowned institute, which currently employs around 230 people, will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2022. Jena is known for high-tech industry, internationally renowned research institutions and a modern university, but it also has a beautiful natural setting in the green Saale valley with steep limestone slopes. The city of Jena has an active student scene and a diverse cultural life. In the context of the Amazon Tall Tower Observatory (ATTO), a joint German / Brazilian project to study forest-climate-atmosphere interactions in the central Amazon tropical forest, we are looking for a Scientific Coordinator (m/f/d) for the Amazon Tall Tower Observatory (ATTO) in full-time / part-time, initially limited to three years, with extension possible dependent on continued financing. Background and position description

The jobholder (m/f/d) will be responsible for working with the project leadership on planning and implementation of the research, dissemination of scientific results and preparation of administrative and scientific reports as well as working towards securing continued financing for the ATTO project. We are looking for an individual (m/f/d) with proven scientific understanding in the general areas of tropical forests and/or atmosphere-biosphere exchange who possesses skills required to help lead an interdisciplinary and international scientific project while ensuring availability of generated data and communication of results.

- Excellent communication skills and ability to cooperate with scientists and technical staff from all over the world
- Ability to write scientific and administrative reports and proposals
- English language fluency required; German and Portuguese language skills highly desirable
