The Peter Grünberg Institute - Neuromorphic Software Ecosystems (PGI-15) led by Prof. Dr. Emre Neftci explores neuromorphic computing technologies that learn and work like the brain. Our research team designs computing algorithms and architectures from the perspective of Neuroscience and physical realizations in dedicated circuits and devices. Applications of our research are targeted to improve computing in many areas, including computer vision, autonomous control, data processing in mobile and wearable devices, and (neuro-)scientific data analysis.

We are looking to recruit a

Programmer / Software Developer for Neuromorphic Computing, C++, Python

Your Job:

  • Programming of custom neuromorphic hardware systems and interfacing software
  • Development of a software library for custom ML/AI
  • Preparation of datasets for use in machine learning and mathematical models
  • Responsibility for the best possible software implementation in terms of readability, maintainability, extensibility and testability of the software solutions
  • Support of our IT infrastructure
  • Support the dissemination of software tools and concepts

Your Profile:

  • Master degree in a field related to applied mathematics and computer science
  • Mastery of the programming languages C++ and Python.
  • Experience with neural networks, machine learning and machine learning software frameworks
  • Knowledge of statistical learning theory, linear algebra and optimization are desirable
  • Interest in the topics of artificial intelligence and machine learning
  • Ability for collaborative work, interdisciplinary and cross-topical thinking
  • Good written and spoken German and English skills

We offer you an exciting and varied role. The position is initially for a fixed term of 2 years, with possible long-term prospects. Salary and social benefits in conformity with the provisions of the Collective Agreement for the Civil Service (TVöD). Depending on the applicant`s qualifications and the precise nature of the tasks, salary grade 13 TVöD-Bund.
