Job Description

At Danfoss, we are looking for our new Head of Danfoss EU Office (m/f/d) in Brussels to head our Group Public Affairs team in Brussels.

We prefer that candidates are based in or close to Brussels. Other locations in Europe will also be considered, provided that the location has a good connection and is within reasonable travel distance to Brussels.

Job Responsibilities

As our Head of EU Office for Group Public Affairs, you will be managing your team and will be responsible for external representation. Build and run a ‘best in class’ EU Public Affairs function for Danfoss. Ensure a long-term regulatory focus and framework that is aligned with Danfoss business interests and access to funding such as EU recovery funds. Closely liaising with Group Public Affairs, segments, regional colleagues as well as other key Danfoss functions. Advise and support leadership on key issues, opportunities, and threats. Participate and/or drive cross-functional projects as appropriate and identified, such as taxonomy.

Other Key Tasks & Activities You Can Expect Are
  • Develop, help execute, and measure an EU public affairs strategy that serves Danfoss policy priorities;
  • Advise leadership of strategies at EU level and in member countries. Ensure a favourable regulatory environment, and access to relevant funding;
  • Facilitate relationships with EU thought leaders/decision makers. Develop Danfoss’ reputation, improve access to projects/funding/business opportunities;
  • Monitor EU-level and local policy and regulatory developments, trends and other political/public issues. Propose response strategies;
  • Build and manage relationships with the EU policy environment. Position Danfoss as a partner and solution provider for positive change within the area of energy and energy transition policies;
  • Lead/coordinate advocacy campaigns and external positioning with EU institutions, member state governments and other policy stakeholders;
  • Build and manage relationships with key policy stakeholders: build alliances with industry partners and/or NGOs. Represent Danfoss in trade associations and stakeholder platforms;
  • Build and enhance capabilities within local team(s) engaged in advocacy, ensure adequate external support;
  • Active information sharing and participation in Danfoss coordination bodies; communication, alignment and coordination to increase synergies between PA, branding and the business;
  • Work with the segments and markets to identify and leverage funding opportunities for energy efficiency through the recovery funds and through other EU-funds on e.g. innovation;
  • Assist in developing messaging, materials and positions for a variety of internal and external audiences, including stakeholder mapping, newsletters, talking points, consultation replies, etc;
  • Attending working group meetings at relevant trade associations and alliances, in particular on financing topics;
  • Support public affairs activities and participate at meetings and conferences.
Background & Skills

We expect you to have a master’s degree in a relevant area such as economics, politics or law and preferably a minimum of 10 years of work experience in the domains of public affairs, government, industry trade association/alliance. Additionally, we would like to see:
  • Experience working with international teams and a variety of stakeholders, executing strategies and cross-functional projects;
  • Ability to navigate the political, legislative and regulatory environment at senior EU level, including high-level presentations and engagement;
  • Knowledge of energy topics and the policy environments that surround them: heating, cooling, building sector and the energy transition;
  • Ability to understand and assess the likely implications of political, policy and regulatory matters on Danfoss’ business;
  • Research skills to find, analyse and present information to provide timely, high-quality internal and external briefings;
  • Proven track record in establishing collaborations with industry partners, governmental authorities and agencies, politicians, NGOs, Academia, trade associations and society key opinion leaders;
  • Be able to work on an independent basis, have a natural focus for details, self-driven and flexible approach to work;
  • Enjoy communicating and conveying complex policies and issues, and be to translate technical information to policy language;
  • Experience and or knowledge of energy and climate combined with funding/financing is considered as a major advantage;
  • Have good writing and editing skills and excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Fluent language skills (written/spoken) for the English language are a must. Other languages are a major advantage.
