The position offers an exciting opportunity to work on the interface between research and applications of Virus Detection and Elimination technologies at Siemens Smart Infrastructure, the leading company in sustainable technologies for grids and buildings.

Working in this position requires a scientific and practical background as well as a very good understanding of current and emerging technologies in this field. You will collaboratively work with Siemens business and technology departments on applying the technologies into disruptive market offerings for buildings.

The position will also involve staying in close contact with leading global research institutes, analyzing demonstration projects and evaluating start-ups.

What part will you play?

Identifying Disruptive market offerings for buildings in collaboration with technology and business experts includes the following tasks:

  • Developing differentiating market offerings in cooperation with Business Departments and Siemens-internal technology departments. Joint development of possible business models including partnering with start-ups and customers
  • Research, design, specification and implementation of pre-product applications (Minimum Viable Product, MVP)
  • Design of feasibility studies including together with internal and external partners
  • Project lead in international agile teams. Planning, scheduling and execution of assignments within project timelines
  • Installation and testing
  • Interaction and communication with scientific and start-up community. Promotion of results at academic and practice-oriented conferences

What You Need To Make Real What Matters.

  • PhD or Master of Science in Biology, Physics, Medicine, Chemistry or similar and longterm experience in relevant field
  • Expert in Virus Detection, identification and structures/proteins
  • Expertise in Virus reduction and elimination technologies, with R&D experience and first industrial applications
  • Good knowledge about aerosol physics and chemistry
  • Experience with fluid dynamic simulation tools for analyzing aerosolspreading in buildings
  • Industrial business and customer understanding
  • Advanced strategic thinking
  • Established networks within global academia/research institutions
  • An ideal Candidate will also be familiar with Digital Technologies applied to Buildings, e. g. Data Analytics (BIM, Digital Twins), Digital Controllers and Communication Technologies.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal & written) skills in English required. Capable of presenting complex technical topics in a clear and structured way, ability to moderate discussions, meetings, and projects
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in a growing, dynamic, interdisciplinary team of experts with a strong customer service orientation
  • Self-driven independent learner
  • Efficient skills in project management
  • Flexibility in post-COVID times to work 2-3 days / week in Erlangen or Zug
