The Faculty of Economics, Law and Social Sciences at the University of Erfurt is advertising the following part-time position (20 hours per week) at the professorship of International Politics/Conflict Studies, available at 1st January 2022:

1 PhD Position (m/f/d)
Pay category E 13 TV-L (50 %)

Area of Responsibility

participate in all aspects of academic work, including research, teaching, organisational and administrative tasks, in the areas of international politics/peace and conflict studies independently set up and implement student seminars supervise students implement own PhD project in the area of international politics/peace and conflict studies

Requirements

obligatory:
master’s degree in politics, international relations or related social science
research interest in areas such as: international politics of security, intelligence, surveillance, flight/refuge/migration, West Asia/North Africa, humanitarianism
excellent English language skills (speaking, reading, writing)
ability to work as a team, as well as independently, ability to take initiative and generate ideas and solutions
excellent writing skills and experience in writing and editing long texts

beneficial: existing knowledge/research experience in the areas: international politics of security, intelligence, surveillance, flight/refuge/migration, West Asia/North Africa, humanitarianism knowledge of qualitative or quantitative research methods excellent German language skills language skills and/or regional knowledge on West Asia/North Africa

Depending on the legal and personal requirements, the position is initially limited to up to 4 years.
