The II-IV design center in Braunschweig, Germany develops high speed System-on-Chip devices in latest CMOS technology nodes for our industry-leading optical products including transceivers, transponders and ROADM line cards.
Job Description
- Define next generation DSP architectures and develop advanced signal processing algorithms for optical transmission systems based on leading-edge CMOS technology
- Verify the architectural approach through simulation and offline processing experiments
- Interact closely with the in-house module, OSA and chip development teams to explore optimal overall system solutions
- Create hardware block specifications and Matlab-based simulation models appropriate for System Verilog (RTL) implementation
- Work with IC designers to ensure a circuit architecture that can meet power and performance targets
- Support program and roadmap definition with management team, marketing and customers
- Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
- Define and/or provide guidance on test plans for lab characterization during verification testing
- Master’s degree or PhD in physics, electrical engineering or a related subject
- Excellent working knowledge of optical fiber communication systems, higher order modulation formats and coherent reception
- Minimum 5-10 years of experience with coherent DSP architectures and algorithm development
- Strong experience in communication system modeling in Matlab and/or Python.
- Experience with optical transmission testing is a plus
- Self-motivated, ability to work in a multidisciplinary multi-site team
- Excellent language skills in English and basic skills in German
- Ability to communicate efficiently with remote teams, willingness to work from home and occasional business travel
