ERM is seeking a full-time Senior Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Consultantto join our growing “Operational Performance / EHS Management & Compliance” team in Frankfurt a.M., Hamburg or Munich, Germany. You will be working on cutting edge projects in the field of environmental, health & safety compliance, EHS management systems and auditing. Operational Performance / EHS Management & Compliance

Compliance with environmental, health and safety (EHS) and social issues is an ongoing commitment that needs to be embedded into the strategic management of business risk and visible leadership commitment and behaviors, as well as in day-to-day management systems of the operation. We work with every level in the organization to define, design, and deploy programs that achieve and sustain compliance, effectively manage EHS issues, and also control operational costs and reduce risks.

The ideal candidate

We are looking for a focused and energetic professional to help our Clients tackle some of their most important EHS and sustainability challenges. We believe that the ideal candidate has technical knowledge covering Health & Safety and/or Environmental topics as well as comprehensive knowledge of German EHS regulations and their practical application. You have experience in auditing (e.g. based on ISO 19011) as well as EHS management systems (e.g. ISO 14001, 45001, 50001). You demonstrate strong team-working skills with the confidence to interact with all different levels within a client organization (e.g. management level). You are someone who enjoys working in a fast moving environment and possesses the proven ability to write clear, well-articulated reports and deliver impactful presentations in German and English.

Role Responsibilities
  • Perform compliance and system audits to assess compliance with applicable health and safety or environmental regulatory requirements, corporate standards, or management systems
  • Provide technical assistance on EHS compliance and management projects on a range of areas such as EHS policy and governance, air emissions, wastewater, waste management, chemical or lab safety
  • Develop EHS compliance procedures, plans, permits and reports
  • Manage multiple projects within expectations (i.e., scope/budget/schedule) and ensure quality standards on project deliverables
  • Identify and develop new opportunities, prepare effective technical proposals, and take active leadership role in developing new business with our clients
  • Lead, manage performance, inspire and mentor personnel for overall success of the Operational Performance team
  • Adhering to all ERM and client requirements, specifically those related to H&S and governance
  • From time to time, travel to client locations and other ERM offices may be required after COVID
Requirements
  • Master Degree (or equivalent)
  • 5+ years relevant experience working with industrial clients on regulatory compliance and EHS management
  • Auditing experience (e.g. based on ISO 19011)
  • Field experience in industrial environments, preferably in process/manufacturing plants and/or on capital construction projects (pharmaceutical, chemical, manufacturing sector experience desired)
  • Project management experience
  • Certification acc. to German ASiG and DGUV V1 (Sicherheitsfachkraft) highly desirable
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Fluent in German (native level) and English
