The University of Duisburg-Essen is looking for the following person(s) to join the Faculty of Chemistry,
Department of Technical Chemistry III on the Duisburg campus
Research assistant (f/m/d) at universities
(Pay category 13 TV-L)
Their main areas of responsibility:
Participation in the BMBF project which is part of a larger research platform in the BMBF - Call
„Wasserstoffrepublik Deutschland".
The candidate will conduct the electrochemical investigation at the nanoscale to evaluate catalyst materials
developed in the project using scanning electrochemical cell microscopy. Understanding how measurement
parameters influence the measurement, evaluation of the SECCM measurements for film-type
electrocatalysts are the main responsibilities of the project. Besides this, participation in project meetings and
contribution to reports is expected.
Within the framework of the activity, opportunities for further scientific qualification are offered.
Your profile:
Completed university studies in chemistry, chemical engineering or physics (diploma or master’s degree) of
at least 8 semesters.
Other requirements
We are looking for a highly motivated, dedicated employee with excellent academic track record. We expect
that he/she has an interest for interdisciplinary project. Technical abilities are highly required for the present
project. Preknowledge of MatLab, Python or LabView are an advantage.
Written and spoken command of the English language is required.
Knowledge of the German language is preferred but is not mandatory.
We offer:
The work will be carried our in the group of Prof. Corina Andronescu (https://www.uni-due.de/tech3chem/).
The target is to advance the application-oriented development of more efficient anode materials for
hydrogen production by alkaline water electrolysis. You will work in a very interdisciplinary consortia, where
more than 20 groups as well as companies will join forces to achieve the project goal.

Contract duration:36 months
Working time:50% of a full-time position
