Within the Institute for Sustainable Hydrogen Economy (INW), which was newly established, you have the chance to participate with your ideas from the very beginning in order to establish a research and innovation cluster that will drive the structural change of the Rhenish Mining Area towards a sustainable energy region of the future. INW is an institute at Forschungszentrum Jülich and, with its H2 Innovation Centre, forms the "Helmholtz Cluster for a Sustainable and Infrastructure-Compatible Hydrogen Economy" (HC-H2) together with the H2-Demonstration Region. Here, scientific foundations are laid in the field of innovative hydrogen technologies to advance research and development approaches with high sustainability potential and attractive economic prospects. We are looking to recruit a

Research Associate / Postdoc - Sustainable Hydrogen Economy and H2-Demonstration Projects

Your Job

  • Work on the scientific fundamentals and process implementation of technologies for chemical hydrogen storage - mainly in the field of catalysis, analytics or system development depending on agreement and qualification
  • Participation in H2-Demonstration projects with the opportunity to lead (partial) work packages
  • Participation in project meetings
  • Coordination with internal and external partners
  • Publication and presentation of research results in relevant journals and/or at national and international conferences
  • Participation in the establishment of the institute (e.g. laboratory and pilot plant infrastructure, experimental test field for chemical hydrogen storage)

Your Profile

  • Very good university degree (Master) in the fields of chemical engineering, process engineering, chemistry, or a comparable discipline with PhD
  • Knowledge of hydrogen and energy research
  • Experience in chemical reactor operation, analytics, or process simulation
  • Very good organizational skills
  • Ability to show initiative and work independently
  • Very good cooperation and communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
  • Very good written and spoken English skills, basic German skills desirable
