The Stem Cell Department in Hamburg is looking for a highly motivated, creative and passionate
Research Associate (all genders)
Stem Cell
Full-time and permanent
Your key responsibilities:
  • Develop novel technologies and biochemical assays centered around human pluripotent stem cells and their progeny in the area of in vitro toxicity/safety assessment
  • Establish novel human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-based differentiation and assay protocols for industrial application
  • Establish working routines at the SOP level for the general handling, manipulation and differentiation of pluripotent stem cells
  • Lead and support iPSC centric project(s) scientifically
  • Maintain an awareness of cutting-edge technological advances and scientific knowledge to improve project performance
  • Work collaboratively with project teams and customers to meet defined goals in time
  • Deliver documents, technical reports and presentations in an accurate and timely manner
  • Represent Evotec’s stem cell capabilities internally and externally
Your ideal qualifications:
  • PhD in Biology or other relevant field
  • Work experience in pharmaceutical or biotech industry is advantageous
  • Profound knowledge and hands-on expertise of maintaining, differentiating, and manipulating human iPSCs for in vitro toxicology applications
  • Hands-on expertise in differentiating human iPSCs into all three germ layers is ideal
  • Experience in assay development for in vitro toxicity/safety assessment using pluripotent stem cells and their progeny
  • Experience in (phenotypic) screening is ideal
  • Professional experience and disease biology understanding relevant to neurodegeneration or neuroinflammation is a plus
  • High level of motivation, initiative, flexibility and ability to work well in a cross-functional team
  • Excellent communication & people skills and experience in managing and mentoring junior staff
  • Ability to work independently
  • Full proficiency of the English language – both verbal and written
