Job Description Summary This position actively manages process development engineers and R&D operations (technicians, Operations associates) who focus on design for manufacturability and the design, development, implementation and validation of manufacturing processes, test methods and Equipment for new products.Job Description

About the Role

  • Develop, implement, and maintain procedures that drive best practices regarding process development and manufacturing site selection.
  • Train technicians and engineers on process development, department and division procedures and test Methods.
  • Assess staff resource needs to ensure that the number, skill sets and experience are adequate to meet business objectives.
  • Proactively lead the activities and career development of assigned process development engineersanage
  • Actively participate as a core team member focused on process development as required. This may include:
  • Design, develop, implement, and validate manufacturing processes for new products
  • Document process development including manufacturing procedures, protocols, and reports
  • Develop and maintain budgets for developing manufacturing processes and equipment
  • Participate as a subject matter expert and/or lead design and technology transfers to manufacturing the R&D operations group focused on production of new medical devices for R&D testing and use. This includes oversight of:
  • R&D technical and operations associates
  • Operations metrics (i.e. safety, quality, delivery, inventory – SQDI)
  • Weekly production schedules and materials to assure timely issuance and completion of work
  • Maintenance of the R&D operations facilities and equipment
  • Exemplify the core BD values and create a strong, inclusive team environment via regularmeetings/communications

About You

  • Minimum of B.S. year degree in engineering, scientific or technical discipline.
  • Minimum of five years supervising engineers or technical professionals
  • Experienced in a regulated manufacturing environment and process validation (IQ, OQ, PQ)
  • Working knowledge of DOE and other statistical methods
  • Strong written, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong skills for coaching, developing and guiding subordinates
  • Experienced in leading cross functional teams and project management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in business administration
  • 6-sigma and/or LEAN manufacturing certification
  • Experienced in design and technology transfers
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office including Microsoft Project
