The CECAD Cluster of Excellence on Aging and Aging- Associated Diseases at the University of Cologne consists of more than 20 working groups focused on aging research. The CECAD Proteomics Facility supports the scientists at the Cologne Campus with state-of-the-art mass spectrometry-based methods for protein analysis. We are looking for a highly motivated candidate for the CRC 1678 ‘Systems-level consequences of fidelity changes in mRNA and protein biosynthesis’ interested in automatized lab work combined with complex proteomic analyses, such as limited proteolysis (LiP-MS) and targeted analyses. The successful candidate will be responsible for the proteomics projects of the CRC 1678.

YOUR TASKS

• Proteomic analyses for the CRC 1678 (LiP-MS, discovery and targeted assays)
• Method development and transfer to automatic liquid handling systems
• Bioinformatics analysis of data
• Handling, maintenance and QC of state-of-the-art nanoLC-MS systems
Coordinating proteomic analyses in the interdisciplinary CRC 1678

YOUR PROFILE

• Doctoral degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry or equivalent experience
• Multiple years of wet lab experience and deep knowledge in protein analytics (extraction, cleanup, quantification, characterization)
• Experience in proteomics, technical knowledge in nanoLC-MS are a plus
• Ideally first experience in automatization using liquid handling systems and/or experience in a scripting language (R, Python)
• The ability to work in a team and motivation to work in interdisciplinary projects
German and English language skills
