Job Summary/Purpose:

The Head Protective Security defines, develops, implements, and maintains the global Physical & Protective security strategy, policies, processes, and service plans including technical aspects (systems and devices) to ensure adequate protection of Sandoz sites and assets, in consideration of each location’s business criticality, complexity, scale, population, regulatory environment and risk situation.

Your Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Ensure that effective and efficient Physical Security Management Systems and supporting programs are in place and appropriate to the Sandoz location’s complexity, scale, regulatory situation, environment considerations and business criticality.
  • Define and maintain the protective security strategy and operating model in line with the company strategy and subsequently manage protective and physical security suppliers and partners within Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to ensure performance targets are being met (using Operational Performance Indicators (OPIs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)), whilst keeping costs within budget expectations.
  • In close collaboration with local/site security functions, ensure that the Site Security infrastructure at each site within scope is proportionate to relevant security-related threats and that adequate resources are provided.
  • Develop, implement, manage and provide guidance on the Sandoz technical/physical security strategy, projects, processes, and service plans to ensure adequate protection of Sandoz associates and assets.
  • Conduct strategic and project-related planning and justification for budgets, contract maintenance, resource allocation and asset replenishment. Understands and operates under budgetary guidelines and manages expenditures according to budget.
  • Oversee the management of a contracted professional guard force.
  • Oversee a comprehensive program of Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV), access control, alarms / alarm monitoring and visitor registration systems and monitors their integrity.
  • Identify and report risks and help develop solutions to protect the business and associates regarding Physical Security Risk mitigation
  • Ensure that all Sandoz sites/locations follow applicable regulatory requirements as they pertain to technical/physical security at pharmaceutical sites. Execute regular audits to proof process and policy adherence on each Sandoz site.
  • In coordination with CS Regional Security Heads, maintain productive and mutually beneficial relationships with local law enforcement agencies.

Minimum requirements

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Preferred Bachelor/Master degree, or equivalent, in technical security field, Information Technology and/or equivalent work in related subject(s).
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is essential.
  • Strong working experience in project design, management and operations with at least 10 years in role.
  • Experience working on Global projects across divisions, functions, and business units
  • A minimum of 10 years’ professional experience in a range of security environments at an international level and being well versed in all aspects of technical security operations, planning and solutions.
  • Experience in a leadership/supervisory role a plus.
  • Experience within the pharmaceutical, biomedical research and/or healthcare industry ideal.
  • Knowledge of financial and budgetary processes; experience in task planning and resource allocation management.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence without authority and lead successfully in a global organization.
  • Flexible and adaptable to the changing demands of the business, with the ability to listen and think strategically, manage risk and be innovative in problem solving.
  • Result driven - capable of sound decision making with the ability to drive initiatives.
  • Computer literate and proficient with all MS Office based desktop applications.
  • Excellent communication and modern presentation skills (written and verbal).
  • Travel to sites and business meetings, conferences, and other events is expected. Estimated at 20-30%.
