Responsibilities

My client is an international company that develops solutions for Stormwater management and manufactures innovative products which are used for these solutions in urban water infrastructure.

Headquartered in Western Europe, the company has over 8,000 employees and is one of the global leaders in its market, facing a strong global growth.

Due to that growth level, the company is now hiring a Business Unit Director Stormwater Management & Flood Risk Solutions (f/m/d). In this role you will be part of an exciting growth project and will have the end-to-end responsibility for the Global Business Unit, including P&L, Innovation & Strategy, Sales & Marketing. You will also lead the business’ international expansion and grow the network.

You will lead a team of 15 team members across several countries and will manage the growth in revenue, EBIT and headcount.

The Business Unit’s main goal is to help cities become climate resilient. As a result of climate change, cities face longer and more intense times of drought and more intense stormwater challenges. My client’s solutions and products help to remove heavy rain water from the streets and store it for phases of drought. These solutions will be key to any city in the face of a more extreme climate situation in the future.
  • Implement the strategy for international growth and further development of the business unit.
  • Product Life Cycle Management & Innovation Management.
  • Introduce and standardize performance measurement systems for operational and financial KPIs.
  • Create a “learning organization” culture.
  • Serve as a connection between global leadership, R&D and Sales & Marketing.
  • Establish a resilient network of contacts across multinational engineering firms, city planning offices and agencies, and public sector.
  • Serve as an active driver of the strategy and be a champion for change.
  • Lead technology selection for new production lines and/or machine extensions
  • Constantly push for improvements in efficiency, customer satisfaction and operational excellence.
Requirements:

As an ideal candidate, you have insights and a clear understanding of how cities will change and how they prepare for the impact of climate change. In this strategic role, you will be very close to the business and the market, define priorities, lead global initiatives and projects.
  • At least 5 years of P&L responsibility in senior management roles in an international, environment, ideally in the water infrastructure environment (international consulting and construction firms, water-related EPC, engineering, pumps or relevant construction material).
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in project management in high performing organizations (B2B).
  • Strong experience in solution-based sales and project sales.
  • Be a corporate entrepreneur, promote initiatives within the business unit and throughout the division.
  • Master’s degree with a proven high level of analytical skills.
  • Strong set of experiences in technology and business management.
  • Be able to lead a high-class team and to develop it further
  • Excellent communication skills in English, any additional language is a plus.
  • Be a problem-solver with strong organizational and team-building skills.
  • Availability for high level of business travel.
  • Strong international experience and intercultural awareness.
