The Heisenberg Professor/Chair in Sensory Physiology, Kristine Krug, at the OVGU Magdeburg investigates the neural basis of perceptual decision-making in primates. We interrogate the relationship between neurons, circuits and behaviour in Rhesus monkeys and humans with methods including cellular neurophysiology, high resolution magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) at 7T and cutting-edge brain intervention methods, including microstimulation and optogenetics.

We seek a postdoctoral scientist to conduct high-dimensional neurophysiological recordings and optogenetic stimulation in Rhesus monkeys investigating the neural coding for naturalistic 3D-motion stimuli and decision-making under social influence.

Tasks
  • investigating the neural basis of perceptual decision-making using high-dimensional neurophysiological recording and causal interventions, including optogenetic stimulation
  • collaborating within a multi-disciplinary team and taking responsibility for research progress and research reporting, presentations at scientific meetings etc.
  • contributing to the development of methodology, the conduct of animal experiments in the laboratory and the fostering of international collaborations
  • a contribution to teaching advanced Neuroscience students (mentoring will be provided)
