Job Description

Are you looking for an internship in the space perimeter? Would you like to discover the work of a structural analysis engineer? Then apply now! We look forward to you joining us as an intern (d/f/m) at the ‘Mechanical Products and Analysis’ department (35 hours/week, flexi-time).

Location: Immenstaad

Start: November 2022

Duration: 6 months

As an intern you will acquire an in-depth insight into mechanical analysis of space structures from system analysis to detailed analysis. You will get an overview of the development of structures for satellites, instruments, mechanisms and other equipment.



We Offer You Some Exciting Tasks

  • This internship aims at supporting the team with structural analyses in satellites, mechanisms and instruments projects and supporting the development and improvement of department processes.
  • This will include many of the following tasks:
  • Create Finite Element (FE) Models of satellite structures, instruments and components. FE models have to be compliant to department standards and good practices
  • Conduct static and dynamic, linear and nonlinear structural analyses
  • Perform structural assessments by means of hand calculations
  • Prepare, support and evaluate mechanical tests
  • (Further-) develop analysis methods and processes
  • (Further-) develop tools in Excel or Matlab for the automatization of analysis pre-/ post processing tasks
  • Understand and prepare technical documentation in English or German

You Offer

  • Enrolled student within aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering or similar field of study
  • First knowledge in Structural Finite-Element Analysis (dynamic analysis would be a plus)
  • Experience with MS Office (including Excel)
  • First experience with Finite-Element Analysis Software like Nastran, Hypermesh and Hyperview
  • Nice to have: First experience working with Hypermesh and Matlab
  • English: fluent
  • Nice to have: German

You are a good team player, have excellent communication skills, and are able to work independently.
