Job Description Summary

The HR Manager provides comprehensive HR support to the business within the Cologne office. You have a responsibility for providing support to supervisors and staff in various HR functions, which include recruitment, staffing, training and development, performance monitoring and employee counselling. Besides this you will participate in global HR related projects. The role delivers strong HR services to managers and employees through the full employment life cycle. You will report to the HR Manager Western Europe and will be partnering closely with other HR managers and HR professionals.

Job Description
  • Part of Cologne Management Team, advising local and overseas managers in areas such as workforce management, performance management, remuneration, training and development
  • Support and counselling of, currently 60, employees at the Cologne location as well as currently 10 employees across Europe in personnel management and labor law matters.
  • Staff Recruiting - developing job descriptions and person specifications, preparing job adverts, checking application forms, shortlisting, interviewing and selecting candidates, offer preparation and onboarding
  • Personnel Administration - administering and maintaining employee records in Workday; maintenance and controlling of Time Management System
  • Payroll preparing and processing of monthly payroll for several European countries
  • Business partnering - advising on pay and other remuneration issues, including promotion and benefits, interpreting and advising on employment law, dealing with grievances and implementing disciplinary procedures
  • Reporting - preparation of reports and statistics for Cologne Office
  • Employee Development - planning, and sometimes delivering, training, including introductions for new staff; analyzing training needs in conjunction with departmental managers
  • Personnel Cost Planning preparing and consolidating data in coordination with HR Director and Management
  • HR Processes - developing and implementing processes on issues such as working conditions, performance management, equal opportunities, disciplinary procedures and absence management
  • Collaboration with the works council on all operational and strategic issues
  • Participation in global HR issues and projects
  • Back-up function for general administration and office related issues

Social interaction
  • Working closely with key functional departments, increasingly in a consultancy role, assisting Managers to understand and implement policies and procedures
  • Liaising with a wide range of people involved in policy areas such as works council, health and safety department, etc.
  • Regular contacts with service providers (payroll, recruiting agencies)
Knowledge/experience/skills
  • Bachelor degree in Human Resources or additional HR related education
  • Minimum of 3 years professional experience in an international working environment
  • Fluently in German and English
  • Experienced with Workday is a big plus
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, proposals, policies and procedures
  • Effective public relations and public speaking skills
  • Well organized, target-oriented and able to multi-task
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality, process cultural and political awareness and sensitivity, demonstrate sound work ethics, be consistent and fair
  • Flexible and independent working attitude

The position is to replace our colleague on parental leave for a period of 13-14 months. The role will be based in our office in Cologne and could be either part-time or full-time. There is a possibility to work partly from home office.
