Job Description
The Automotive Systems Team is responsible for providing optimized system solutions out of Texas Instruments` (TI) broad product portfolio. The team is the interface for TI`s product development groups and also for Automotive Account teams and customers. The system engineer works “hand-in-hand” with worldwide Field Application Engineers (FAE) and respective customer engineers to develop winning solutions over competition and uses his broad technical competency and specific subject matter expertise as a competitive advantage.
In this role, you will be working primarily in On-Board-Charger & High Voltage DC-To-DC Converter for Hybrid and Electric Vehicles, providing technical expertise both at the architectural level as well as at the Integrated Circuit level. The role involves development of fully functional customer boards related to our portfolio for OBC & HV DCDC. You will be researching and developing solutions for key OBC & HV DCDC architectures and trends, with the ultimate goal of working with OEM and Tier 1 customers. As well, you will be advising and consulting with the various product lines to define and develop market leading OBC & HV DCDC Integrated Circuits.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To
- Utilizes Sales/FAE project knowledge as an advantage to better identify and understand customer design challenges in OBC & HV DCDC Systems for Automotive hybrid and electric vehicles.
- Architects OBC & HV DCDC solutions that address customer design challenges, resulting in wins over TI’s competitors.
- Applies learnings, best practices and existing collateral to act fast with specific actions and win in selected Sales projects
- Develops an effective working relationship with FAEs, resulting in synchronized project engagement for winning more
- Creates training for customers and FAEs, and authors engaging articles for competitive advantage
- Excels at solving dynamic problems proactively, with urgency and ideally has the following technical skills:
- Familiar with OBC & HV DCDC related regulations
- Power conversion related (C2000 is preferred) control algorithm and software development
- Power conversion topology analysis, simulation and power loss calculation
- Hardware build (schematics, layout)
- Hardware test/verification
- ISO26262 Functional Safety
- Identify OBC & HV DCDC product and technology gaps and define new products or product enhancements
- Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- 5+ years of hardware and embedded software development experience in Automotive hybrid and electric vehicles like OBC & HV DCDC, etc.
- Knowledge of regulations, Functional Safety and ISO26262
- EMC/EMI compliant hardware design or power supply design is an advantage
- Experience in analog hardware design for Automotive systems is an advantage
- Strong analytical skills in analog hardware system design and system level partitioning for analog and digital ICs
- Experience on system simulation tools like PLECs, MATLAB, SPICE, etc.
- Experience using CAD software like Altium, Cadence, etc. to design PCBs: schematic capture and PCB layout
- Experience in prototyping, test and debug
- Experience in writing design documentation like application reports, EVM user’s guides, etc.
- Ability to work in multinational and multi-site teams and collaborate effectively with people in different functions
- Strong time management skills that enable on-time project delivery
- Ability to take the initiative and drive for results
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment
- Writing and presentation skills
- Fluent oral and written English communication skills
