The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for managing relationships, commodities, and projects while working with Production Planning, Operations Engineering, and Product Development in support of both strategic and tactical supply chain activities. The incumbent is also responsible for sourcing potential suppliers, contracting with suppliers and managing supplier performance through regular interaction as well as quarterly business reviews with strategic suppliers. This position requires leadership and management skills, as well as tactical procurement experience.

Tasks

  • Lead the commodity/process supplier selection method that creates relationships with recognized technology leaders. Establishes direct relationships with all “Strategic” suppliers to negotiate pricing, payment and supply terms.
  • Continually survey markets for best sources of supply. Advise and make recommendations to management of industry developments in strategic commodities.
  • Contacts potential suppliers, performs reference checks, issue non-disclosure agreements, issue quotes, reviews and evaluate quotes, and visits potential suppliers.
  • Coordinates supplier audits and evaluations. Acts as the intermediary in the vendor quality and performance issues.
  • Ensure that the appropriate supplier relationship and performance management structures and mechanisms are deployed including monitoring of KPIs and conducting QBRs
  • Maintain all costing information and establish a regular cost review process for all products and Operations’ services. Establishes and drives the product cost reduction program.
  • Issue and manage purchase contracts, purchase orders and agreements as required.
  • Work closely with Product Development team; ensure timely, cost-effective materials and service acquisition in support of New Product Development schedules
  • Supports Product Development and Manufacturing through the entire life-cycle of products, projects or programs with component selections, substitutions and end-of-life management.
  • Work with Marketing to provide support for creation and sourcing of print materials, promotional products and retailer kits.
  • Manages new product tooling contracts where required.
Requirements

  • Degree or diploma within the Supply Chain Management profession or equivalent related education
  • Several years of related Procurement, Production Planning, Master Scheduling, or Material Management experience.
  • Several years of procurement experience within a high volume, electronics or silicone rubber manufacturing environment
  • Strong negotiation and managerial skills
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems are required. Netsuite System experience would be a strong asset.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English. Ability to communicate professionally with internal and external customers.
  • Solid interpersonal skills with the ability to work cooperatively in a leadership role to achieve team or organizational objectives
  • Experience working with remote contract manufacturers an asset
  • Ability to work occasionally during evenings to communicate with suppliers may be required
