The HeidelbergCement Norcem cement plant of Brevik, Norway, is the first industrial-scale carbon capture and storage (CCS) project in the world. With 400,000t of CO2 to be captured annually and transported for permanent storage as part of the Northern Lights project. HTC Europe provides expertise and technical support for this project.
The position will be located in Brevik, Norway and report to the Project Manager. The Sub-Project Manager CCS is part of the Project Management Team and has one subordinate (Project Engineer CCS plant).

Your next challenge
- Responsible for the management of WBS 1.2 Aker Carbon Capture contract.
- Work within the established project organization system to ensure that subcontract is executed according to established schedules, budget, and according to established project management procedures.
- Foster and maintain working relations with all stakeholders.
- Coordinate and track sub-contractor progress and their deliverables or milestones as they relate to overall schedule.
- Facilitate team and project meetings and lead large meetings with multiple contractors.
- Report progress to management and stakeholders as required.
- Support Project Manager and Project Director as needed.
- Support project activities focusing on safety, schedule, budget, and quality.
- Lead the coordination of sub contractor submittals and its reviews.
- Assist in review of the detail engineering of the process installations for the carbon capture process plant including waste heat recovery.
- Assist with the verification of the redlined drawings prepared by the contractor.
- Verify construction quantities to ensure accurate reporting and invoicing from contractors and conformance with contractual requirements.
- Perform monitoring, review and verification activities of the contractors engineering of the process installations to ensure that all relevant design parameters and requirements are understood and adhered to.
- Prepare minutes of meetings, memorandums and reports as required.
- Assist in the review of plans and schedules for governing documents, and monitoring, review and verification activities in cooperation with the contractors and aligned with their engineering activities.
- Responsible for applicable contractual issues, TQ and VOR handling.
- Assist with MC, commissioning and start-up/performance testing, particular with planning.
Your profile
- 5 years of experience in the chemical, oil & gas, or industrial gases, or other closely related fields.
- Minimum of 10 Years Post Graduate Experience.
- Diploma-/or Master’s degree in relevant area (Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering).
- Minimum of 4-5 years of management/project management experience.
- Strong Communicator is key – English essential.
- Ability to cooperate in an international team.
- Proactive - goal orientated with the initiative to influence events positively, lead project team, and influence client for decision making.
- Ability to resolve complex problems and to be comfortable in complex project or business environments.
- Ability to set and maintain high standards of self-performance with responsibility and accountability for successfully completing assignments and tasks.
- Demonstration of innovation, initiative, maturity, and sound judgment.
- Ability to influence a group of diverse individuals, each with their own goals, needs, and perspectives, to work together effectively for the good of a project.
