Your mission:Mobility has a high priority in our society. People want to reach their destination safely, comfortably and quickly. Goods must be transported cost-effectively over short and long distances. The consequences of mobility can be seen in environmental pollution, accidents and traffic jams, which increase with the ever-growing volume of traffic. These are the challenges we face at the Institute of Transportation Systems. We develop solutions for the safe and efficient mobility of the future.
Instead of only looking at individual vehicles and vehicle functions, our focus is on whole traffic systems. We therefore put emphasis on the interaction between different road users and the interaction between road users and surrounding infrastructure by considering and enhancing most recent developments esp. in terms of connectivity, digitalization and automation. In addition, finding optimal solutions for changing the mode of transportation wherever required are part of our research.
We are looking for several students (computer scientist, engineer) for the development and implementation of scientific and experimental prototypes in highly connected traffic systems. You will focus particularly on urban scenarios, where you will develop and implement software connectivity solutions for automated driving and its traffic system interaction.
To achieve your goals, you will work in an interdisciplinary team of computer scientists, engineers, and ergonomists and you can rely on the experience of psychologists in conducting volunteer studies. You will encounter a stimulating research environment, plenty of room for own ideas and international visibility. You are also welcome to write a bachelor/master thesis in this research area.
Your qualifications:
- study of computer science, engineering or similar
- programming knowledge and experience with Java 8 and GIT
- passion of innovative research, scientific and systematic way of working
- understanding of complex relationships and analytical procedures
- good English or German skills, both written and spoken
- knowledge in the field of concepts for cooperative and connected driving, e.g. CCAM, ITS-G5, ETSI ITS standards or the willingness to learn this knowledge is advantageous
- knowledge in agile software development as well NetBeans or Eclipse, C++, Robot Operating System (ROS), ASN.1/PER/BER, UDP, Apache Maven, XML and/or JSON or the willingness to learn this knowledge is a plus
Look forward to a fulfilling job with an employer who appreciates your commitment and supports your personal and professional development. Our unique infrastructure offers you a working environment in which you have unparalleled scope to develop your creative ideas and accomplish your professional objectives. Our human resources policy places great value on a healthy family and work-life-balance as well as equal opportunities for persons of all genders (f/m/x). Individuals with disabilities will be given preferential consideration in the event their qualifications are equivalent to those of other candidates.
