As Senior Energy Optimization Engineer within the Global Engineering team at Ferring company, your mission will be to drive sustainable and efficient energy usage across our manufacturing facilities and operations worldwide through an active participation to defining and contributing to achieving Ferring’s Sustainability Strategy. You will play a pivotal role in identifying, implementing, and managing energy-saving initiatives and technologies, contributing significantly to the company’s environmental stewardship and cost reduction efforts. By optimizing energy consumption, you will directly support our commitment to sustainable growth while ensuring adherence to relevant regulations and industry best practices.
Your day at Ferring
  • Energy Auditing: Conduct comprehensive energy audits and assessments at various pharmaceutical manufacturing sites to identify areas for improvement and potential energy-saving opportunities
  • Data Analysis: Define current data gaps and what is needed to provide a sufficient data quality and data granularity to achieve solid business cases. Collect, consolidate, and Analyze energy consumption data and historical trends to establish benchmarks, measure progress, and develop data-driven strategies for energy optimization
  • Renewable Energy Integration: Explore and propose the integration of renewable energy sources, such as solar, wind, or biomass, to enhance the company’s overall energy mix and reduce carbon footprint. Support the definition of a mid and long-term energy strategy for the company
  • Equipment and building Optimization: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize the performance of the buildings and energy-intensive equipment, such as HVAC systems, compressors, and lighting, through retrofitting or upgrades
  • Process Optimization: Identify energy-intensive processes within the manufacturing operations and develop strategies to optimize them without compromising product quality or safety
  • Technology Evaluation: Keep abreast of emerging technologies in the energy sector and assess their applicability and potential benefits to the company’s energy optimization initiatives
  • Project Management: Identify, lLead and manage energy optimization projects/programs from inception to completion, including defining scope and targets, setting milestones, monitoring progress, and reporting status and achieved results to stakeholders
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant energy-related regulations, codes, and standards at all company facilities.
  • Energy Awareness and Training: Develop and conduct energy awareness programs and training sessions for employees to foster a culture of energy conservation and sustainability
  • Collaboration and Networking: Collaborate with internal stakeholders, mainly EHS and ESG, external agencies, and industry forums to exchange knowledge and best practices on energy optimization and sustainability. Close cooperation with OT is also needed
Behind our innovation…There’s you
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus
  • Experience: A minimum of 5-7 years of hands-on experience in energy optimization, energy management, or a related field within the pharmaceutical, chemical, or manufacturing industries
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in energy modeling software, data analysis tools, and familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) and Energy Management Systems (EMS)
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Thorough understanding of local and international energy-related regulations, and standards and trends applicable to pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities
  • Project Management: Demonstrated experience in leading and executing energy optimization projects, with a strong focus on meeting deadlines and achieving targets
  • Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical skills to identify the high potential projects and problem-solving skills to assess complex energy systems and develop effective optimization strategies
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Excellent communication and presentation skills and able to communicate with stakeholders at all levels. Ability to represent the business to the customer/external stakeholders
  • Collaborative: Proven ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment, engaging with colleagues from diverse backgrounds, cultures and expertise
  • Innovative Mindset: A passion for continuous improvement and an innovative mindset to explore new technologies and methodologies for energy optimization
  • Environmental Awareness: Understanding of environmental sustainability principles and a commitment to incorporating sustainable practices in engineering solutions
  • Language: Good command of English (verbal & written). French or German and any other language are a plus. Good influencing and negotiation skills
  • Softwares: Good knowledge of software such as MS-Word, Excel, Autocad, MS project
