Position Overview
As a Product Manager you will provide vision and product strategy for innovative battery storage technology developments . You will take the lead on delivering products from initial pilot projects to multi MW sized grid scale battery storage plants whilst helping to create the processes that enable successful delivery. Building on past and ongoing projects, you will play a critical role in providing technology vision on this topics and work closely with internal stakeholders (strategy, commercial, development and other teams in the global storage engineering) and external stakeholders (customers, OEMs, R&D institutes and startups).
Areas of Responsibilities:
- Provide technological vision to innovative hardware solutions e.g. EV and 2nd life batteries, aging analysis, C&I applications, co-location of battery storage with wind, PV and others.
- Synthesize market and technical information across geographies, applications, and technology capabilities to support the development of a product strategy.
- Support the development of and subsequently maintain harmonized short-, medium-, and long-term product roadmaps aligned to company objectives and timelines.
- Work with the wider RWE Group to offer input on innovative hardware solutions that can be applied to project pipelines.
- Work with Engineering team to standardize integration of new products into packaged solutions, including testing methodologies and integration in the EMS.
- Support the process of developing & standardizing system documentation with input from Engineering & Suppliers.
- Develop selection and screening criteria for component suppliers and external consultants.
- Represent the Global Battery Storage Engineering Team both internally within the RWE Group and externally with suppliers, Network Operators, industry experts at relevant events.
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of experience with energy storage technology.
- Experience with the development of new products and the associated processes.
- Degree required in engineering (electrical, mechanical, material science, chemical), or other quantitative disciplines.
- Good technical acumen with the ability to engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders both internally and with external customers.
- Can synthesize complex, multi-dimensional information in compelling collateral for executive and technical team.
- Experience with modelling and running simulations along with knowledge of associated tools is a plus.
- Deep passion for decarbonization of the global electricity grid.
- Strong communication and presentation skills required. Effectively able to communicate and influence the sales/customer/engineering/operations communities and present recommendations to management.
- Willingness to work within a deeply collaborative environment with a strong desire to share knowledge, learning and experience.
