Life Cycle Assessment Consultant (m/w/d) - hybrid

About the role:

You will support the activities of our company in the area of environmental assessment of products to meet recent regulations and market expectations as a devoted member of the Global LCA Competence Center. This will be performed by conducting life cycle assessments and carbon footprint assessments according to ISO standards in the EMEA region. A further purpose is to advocate the business units in all LCA-related questions from procurement to sales. As part of our KAITEKI philosophy, you will support and guide our company towards a more sustainable future.


Your Responsibilities:

  • Providing guidance and supporting the implementation of LCA projects with a strong focus on energy & climate, as well as the circular economy
  • Coordinating customer’s inquiries regarding sustainability and LCA performance
  • Generating new life cycle inventories and conducting quality checks, as well as monitoring developments in the LCA field
  • Build up, validate and evaluate LCA models and evaluate them ideally in Sphera LCA for Experts software according to company’s internal standards
  • Preparation of LCA 3rd party reports and background documentation of a broad product portfolio for European business groups and headquarters in Japan
  • Supporting the management of relationships between LCA service providers (suppliers), the various departments of the company, and other external stakeholders, such as suppliers and customers
  • Involvement in the organization of global KAITEKI meetings LCA-part and representing Mitsubishi Chemical at external LCA conferences, events, workshops, etc.


Your Skills:

  • University degree in Chemical / Environmental engineering, Chemistry-related natural sciences
  • Experience in product life cycle assessment (LCA), product carbon footprint (PCF), product environmental footprint (PEF), related standards such as ISO 14044, ISO 14067 and GHG Protocol understanding of chemical processes
  • First related experience in softwares, such as GaBi, SimaPro or similar
  • Ability to influence and communicate effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Business fluency in English (German and/or French is an advantage)
  • Sustainability mindset, committed to guiding and supporting improvements towards a more sustainable future, as well as a cultural awareness and experience in working in an international environment
  • Independent working style and excellent communication skills
