Your role

On our mission of transforming established enterprises into agile network organizations, we are looking for a (Junior) Backend Engineer (f/m/d) in Munich, Berlin or Madrid.

As a Backend Engineer you will be part of one of the cross functional teams at Workpath, where you will be responsible for building and adding features in an efficient and sustainable way to our main web application. You will work closely with other (Senior) engineers (both Backend and Frontend), along with Product Owner and Product Designer, from ideation of the feature to developing and testing it. We value team collaboration, and input from each team member.

In this role you will

As a part of the on-boarding process, you will be paired with one of the Senior Backend Engineers who will guide you through our system, and help you build and deploy your very first feature to production. While you do need some experience (see below), you don’t need to know Ruby on Rails – we’ll teach you on the job!

Our backend is built upon Ruby (3.0.1) and Ruby on Rails (6.1). We use Postgres as the main persistent database, and Redis as in-memory storage. Our servers are provisioned by Chef, and automated with Capistrano. We are currently in the process of migrating our infrastructure to AWS and Kubernetes.

Your profile

  • You’re either a fresh graduate with some projects and experience, or you already have 1-2 years experience in software development
  • Knowledge of Computer Science and any high level programming languages (Ruby, JavaScript, Python, Java …)
  • Knowledge of building web applications, and design patterns like MVC framework
  • Knowledge of database and SQL queries
  • Knowledge of testing and test-driven development
  • Experience with version control system, (Git)
  • Diligent and passionate, with aptitude for new technologies
  • Good communication skills
