A Snapshot of Your DayAs a Global Commodity Manager, you will be part of corporate Global Strategic Procurement team (SE P DM), responsible for commodity strategy of electronic components like Integrated circuits, power products, Electronic Manufacturing Services supporting our SE business.
Typical day for Global Commodity Management professional includes define/execution of commodity strategies, negotiation with suppliers, supplier relationship management, reporting, problem solving, supply chain risk mitigation as well as alignment meetings with internal/external x-functional team.
How You’ll Make An Impact
The successful candidate will be the Global Strategic Lead for the Power Management Commodity Specific responsibilities include:
- Manage Electronic commodity globally / X-organizationally with special focus on components like Integrated circuits, electronic components, power products and bundling
- Lead a functional team of regional commodity managers globally
- Be strong interface to R&D, Cost-Value Engineering, Supplier Quality Development as well as other procurement functions
- Manage relationship with suppliers and traders globally leading to utilizing pooling/bundling of SE demands in close collaboration with alliance partners
- Define Commodity structure; develop and implement material productivity programs/ measures to achieve the maximum contribution to the targets
- Ensure PVO transparency globally by, amongst others, correct ESN coding to ensure a correct reporting and to derive an appropriate commodity strategy
- Define and implement negotiation concepts and strategies to maximize savings; negotiate frame contracts, execute E-auctions
- Forward systematically all relevant Procurement related project information (e.g., updated contractual conditions, Supplier Management data) to keep all stakeholders up to date
- Identify procurement risks, opportunities, and market forces to avoid potential damage/ exploit potential opportunities through tailored risk/opportunity management
- Maintain business relationships with executive management of major suppliers to furnish and obtain timely information regarding market conditions, trends, and their effect on price and supply
- Responsible for Supplier Management: Supplier selection, incl. documentation, communication of strategic suppliers, regular supplier evaluations/classification, supplier development etc.
- Responsible for Supply chain governance topics like External Sustainability Audits and Procurement Assessments
- University degree in a technical or business-related field
- Several years of experience in procurement related roles (Strategic procurement, commodity management) or similar expertise in technology of electrical components
- Capability to negotiate and to operate in different cultures
- Knowledge for setup of procurement strategies on different material fields
- Strategic thinking and strong analytical skills
- Build up and managing multi-tier supply chains
- Knowledge of contract law and export control
- Excellent English language skills, German language skills desirable
- Position is posted for Erlangen, Germany, but different SE home base in Germany, Romania, China etc. can be discussed
- Travel percentage ~20%
The SE P DM organization is responsible for managing 3rd party spend as well as developing procurement strategies of direct material fields that will allow Siemens Energy to maintain competitive position in marketplace and support company’s vision to become the most valued energy technology company
