The GlobalFoundries Application Engineering – Design support team is responsible for providing direct technical support on the Design Enablement tools and Technologies in which customers are designing chips. This includes GlobalFoundries’ state-of-the-art Silicon Photonics, RF SiGe, Specialty High Voltage, CMOS, SOI and FinFET technologies. In addition to answering specific technical questions for the customers, the AE-Design team also provides occasional technical training at the customer’s site or on-line.
The candidate will also be responsible to drive clients’ requests and insight into the internal Design Enablement and Technology Development teams, resulting in increased competitiveness of GF’s Design Enablement and Technologies in the marketplace, and higher client satisfaction. Experience with industry standard MXS and RF design, simulation, layout, extraction and/or checking EDA tools from Cadence, Mentor or Synopsys and/or silicon technology process development is required.
Problem solving and personal communication skills are used heavily. This position offers an opportunity for direct customer interaction. An ability to represent GlobalFoundries in a direct customer contact role is essential.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Answer MXS/RF related technical questions from foundry customers on the use of design simulation and checking tools and GF’s Technologies

  • Verify reported bugs in the Design Kit and document clearly to the development team for fixes

  • Bring customer-requested enhancements to the Design Kit and Technology development teams

  • Work with the Design Kit development team to implement fixes and enhancements

  • Write Application Notes on topics/problems that recur

  • Contribute to the writing of Technical Training Materials

  • Present Design Kit and Technology training at customer sites

  • Take ownership over GlobalFoundries technology demonstration and support design win process with technical expertise

Other Responsibilities:

  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs

Required Qualifications:

  • Education - B.S. in EE + 7 years’ experience, or M.S in EE + 5 years’ experience, or Ph.D. in EE.

  • Experience – Minimum 6 years’ experience

  • Travel - 0 to 10% (flexible)

  • Fluency in English Language – written & verbal

  • Silicon Circuit Layout and checking tool experience

  • Significant experience with semiconductor technologies and devices

  • Significant MXS design and EDA tools experience

  • Strong Communication, Organization, Presentation, Inter-personal and Influencing Skills

  • Clear Communication skills

  • Problem solving skills

  • Good teamwork, flexibility, and positive attitude
