Software Engineer (m/w/d)

Overview

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our TESS team, building the next generation of our platform, at our Technology Center in Fuerth, Germany.

TESS (Tool Expert Software System) is Kennametal’s knowledge-based tool expert software for managing its Holemaking and Solid Endmill portfolios.

The ideal candidate must have strong, firsthand technical expertise in a variety of configuration management, data technologies and the proven ability to develop robust scalable solutions that can manage large data sets. This person should embrace continuous improvement and test-driven development. They must be at ease working with little supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Develop software solutions by studying information needs, conferring with users, and studying systems flow, data usage and work processes
  • Keep up to date with the latest software development technologies and methodologies
  • Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing systems
  • Document and demonstrate solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code
  • Deploy programs and evaluate user feedback provide ongoing maintenance, support and enhancements in existing systems and platforms
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with business users, project managers and other engineers to achieve solutions
  • Work alongside other engineers on the team to elevate technology and consistently apply best practices
  • Capable of delivering on multiple competing priorities with little supervision

Skills/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Business Information Systems
  • 3+ years of professional software development experience
  • Proficiency in database knowledge, software architecture, software development methods. Must have experience with C#, .NET (Microsoft Technologies), SQL, Web Technologies, User Interfaces
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering and best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing and operations is beneficial
  • Experience in designing interactive applications is a plus
  • Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment, strong interpersonal skills in interfacing with internal customers
  • Experience of working as part of a global team and handling global projects is a plus
  • CAD knowledge is beneficial
