Job Description

The Director, Global Compliance is responsible for implementing DJO’s compliance program outside of the United States, including, but not limited to, all program elements related to the management of DJO’s interactions with Health Care Professionals (“HCP”) and with international distributors and other third parties acting on behalf of DJO.The Director, Global Compliance serves as a compliance business partner for DJO’s international business units and advises the business on compliance solutions related to strategic matters, as well as day-to-day activities. This position requires a seasoned leader with the ability to address compliance challenges strategically, while working effectively with key business partners and functional leaders globally.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities (Other Duties May Be Assigned)
  • Help DJO effectively implement and improve its Compliance Program outside of the United States.
  • Assist with the further “globalization” of the program, including developing additional global or local controls, revising and drafting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the laws, crafting regulations and standards applicable in the regions in which DJO operates, and training personnel on DJO policies and procedures.
  • Assist in conducting periodic risk assessments, developing the compliance strategic work plan, and driving key compliance initiatives globally.
  • Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk and work with senior Corporate Compliance colleagues and with the business to develop and implement corrective and preventative action plans for problem resolution and proactive risk mitigation.
  • Proactively identify compliance enforcement trends, emerging regulatory issues, and developments in industry practices and standards, and help design appropriate policies and procedures to ensure continuing relevance and effectiveness of DJO’s global compliance program.
  • In collaboration with other Corporate Compliance personnel, oversee compliance processes applicable to the international business units, including but not limited to HCP engagement, funding requests, transparency reporting and international distributor screening and onboarding.This may involve handling certain day to day requests and/or serving as a first level escalation point for related issues.
  • Manage and investigate compliance questions, concerns, and issues involving the international business units in collaboration with Corporate Compliance and Business management and with the DJO Legal and Human Resources Departments.
  • Work with business teams to evaluate new product offering or business models and to structure offerings in compliance with applicable laws.
  • Advise on compliance requirements applicable to the international business units’ activities and independently manage complex and/or high-risk compliance matters.
  • Assist in conducting due diligence in connection with mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic deals and lead selected compliance related integration activities.

Education/Experience
  • 12+ years relevant compliance-related experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • A professional focus on the health care industry, preferably with a medical device manufacturer
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable health care compliance and anti-bribery and anti-corruption laws, regulations, and standards
  • Ability independently to analyze and interpret complex health care regulations involving risk assessments and apply solutions to company business and operations
  • Strong presentation and negotiation skills, as well as the ability to influence business peers
  • Ability to balance regional interests with corporate priorities and compliance requirements for a rapidly expanding business in a fast paced, dynamic, multi-national company
  • Location Europe, preferably Switzerland
Preferred Qualifications
  • 15+ years’ experience
  • Masters, Juris Doctor, or equivalent advanced degree
  • Compliance Certification
  • 5+ Years Management Experience
  • Medical Device Experience, preferably in the orthopedic industry
  • Prior experience managing interactions with health care professionals and anti-bribery and anti-corruption matters
