The work schedule for this position is:
Full Time (40 hours per week)
Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.
Safely operates a fully armored vehicle (FAV) to transport CG within the city and the surrounding areas.
Duties
The incumbent operates safely a fully armored vehicle (FAV) to transport the Consul General (CG) within the city and the surrounding areas. Ensures that the vehicle is in clean and serviceable condition and performs minor preventive maintenance.
Qualifications and Evaluations
EXPERIENCE:
At least three (3) years of professional driving experience is required.
JOB KNOWLEDGE:
Pre-Hire:
Knowledge of local traffic laws and regulations. Knowledge of in-country travel routes and areas.
General awareness of the general political climate in the country related to protests, demonstrations, and riots.
Post-Hire:
Mission’s protocol procedures as it relates to the Front Office. State Department vehicle safety standards.
Motor pool rules and regulations. Knowledge of the location of other Missions, host Government institutions, and NGOs.
Completion of Primary School is required.
LANGUAGE: Mandatory:
English Level II (Limited Knowledge) in speaking/reading/writing is required.
German Level III (Good Working Knowledge) in speaking/reading/writing is required.
This may be tested.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Pre-Hire:
Must hold a valid and legally obtained German/EU driver’s license, class B and C1.- Operates level C or D armored vehicle with defensive driving skills.
Must be able to diagnose and handle preventive maintenance and first-echelon automotive repairs.
Ability to detect vehicle defects and report them immediately to authorities concerned.
Must have basic computer skills to maintain reports and for communication purposes.
Post-Hire:
Must quickly and calmly evaluate risks and alternative actions always assuring the maximum safety of the passengers.
Must be able to deal with high level officials in a relaxed and competent manner.

For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.
The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.

A “certification” is any written document from the armed forces that certifies the service member is expected to be discharged or released from active duty service in the armed forces under honorable conditions within 120 days after the certification is submitted by the applicant. The certification letter should be on letterhead of the appropriate military branch of the service and contain (1) the military service dates including the expected discharge or release date; and (2) the character of service. Acceptable documentation must be submitted in order for the preference to be given.
** This level of preference applies to all Foreign Service employees on LWOP and CS with re-employment rights back to their agency or bureau.
